The "certificate" handles encryption between the mail and your browser, and ensures that your password is encoded so it is not "sniffed" (read) as it crosses the Internet. Download the First Class client software for home by clicking here.  (You'll find remote mail much easier.) On finishing the installation, you just need to make a few last adjustments.
